Procedure

Heat ceteareth-20 to 80°C with gentle mixing. Add the remaining ingredients of phase A, one at a time, maintaining temperature at 70°-80°C. Keep the mixer covered. Use a closed mixing vessel and nitrogen gas to make the head space of the mixer inert. Increase agitation. In a separate vessel, combine and heat phase B to 80°C with gentle mixing. Add phase B to phase A. Pour slowly and maintain temperature. Stir phase B occasionally during the addition. Continue to use strong mixing with scraping and dispersing actions in the main mixer. As phase B is added, the batch will become increasingly thick and waxy. It may be necessary to add phase B in increments. After the addition is complete, mix for an additional 10 minutes. Discontinue heating and nitrogen and cool gradually while mixing.

Properties

Stable for at least one month at 50°C.
